Saipan International School teacher Whit Altizer and student Tania Tan emerged as the top finishers in last Saturday’s 4th Annual McFun Run.

Altizer was the overall No. 1 finisher and took the men’s division title after completing the five-kilometer run from Chamolinian Utt and back (with turnaround point across National Office Supply) in 18:47. Altizer, who made his debut on Saipan road race, defeated long-time runner Kosuke Sato (19:16).

Tan, on the other hand, was the first female to make it to the start/finish line after clocking in at 20:40. She and Altizer joined the nearly 200 runners that participated in the event organized by McDonald’s Saipan together with Rotary Club of Saipan.

The two SIS runners and other top finishers in their respective divisions received medals and in-kind prizes from McDonald’s and the events sponsors.

“I would like to thank our sponsors for helping push this event,” McDonald’s co-owner and Rotary Club of Saipan president Marcia Ayuyu.

Ayuyu thanked the following for supporting the weekend event: National Office Supply , Bank of Guam, Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan, IT&E, Stay Well, Hyatt Regency Saipan, Kanoa Resort, Triple J Wholesale, Coca-Cola, MAROAC, Twins Supermarket. Pacific Islands Club Saipan, DFS/T Galleria, Herman’s Modern Bakery, and Ming Yang Supermarket.

The Rotary president said they intend to use proceeds from the event for future projects. She also hopes for more participants in next year’s McFun Run.
