Saipan International School was perfect in yesterday’s games in the high school division of the 2017-2018 Commonwealth Coalition of Private Schools Association Volleyball League at the Geckos turf in As Lito.

SIS swept Grace Christian Academy with the Lady Geckos handing the hosts the first win after prevailing in three sets, 25-16, 23-25, 15-10. In the boys divisions, SIS needed only two sets to down the Eagles, 25-23, 25-23.

The pair of wins against GCA allowed SIS to sustain its strong start in the league this season. SIS’ girls and boys division teams each notched a pair of wins in the opening week of the competition.

Against Marianas Baptist Academy last Tuesday in the boys division match, SIS stunned the defending champion after registering a 25-22 , 25-19 triumph. Then in the girls division game, the Lady Geckos, who placed runner-up to Mt. Carmel School last season, also won after only two sets against MCS 2, 25-21, 25-17.

After earning two victories at their home court, SIS visited Agape Christian School in Middle Road last Thursday and picked up where it left off, bagging two more wins against the Torchbearers.

In the girls division, SIS eased past Agape, 25-10, 25-17, while the visiting team’s boys crew also took two sets to beat the hosts, 25-17, 25-13.

Meanwhile, this season’s competition also features high teams from Marianas High School, Kagman High School, and Saipan Southern High School.

Mt. Carmel School, which placed second to MBA in the boys division, was scheduled to host Saipan Southern in yesterday’s game, while the same pairing is set in the girls field. Other matches yesterday were Agape versus MBA in the boys and Agape against MCS 2 in the girls. Results of these matches were unavailable at press time.

Action will continue today with Agape taking on Kagman, GCA challenging Saipan Southern, and MHS battling SIS in both the boys and girls division games.
