SIS forensics team shines in Nov. competition

The Saipan International School Geckos Forensics Team enjoyed much success at the November competitions at Tanapag Middle School and Kagman High School this past weekend.
In the National Speech and Debate Association events for high school students, Shea Hartig won her second consecutive blue ribbon in the Lincoln-Douglas debate, while Allan Lee earned fourth place in his very first debate competition. Sally Lai won the U.S. Extemporaneous Speech competition.
In the National Junior Speech and Debate Association events for middle school students, Mylan Goodwin won first place in Original Oratory and third place in Masters’ Prose. Christina Kim won a blue ribbon in Masters’ Prose and fourth place in Declamation. Tiffany Jung won first place in Prose, while Matthew Berline earned second place in that category as well as in Impromptu. Nastya Shamanaeva placed second in Impromptu and Poetry and fifth in Lincoln-Douglas debate. James Lee took home second place in Original Oratory, while Victoria Torres earned third place in both Chamorro Interpretation and Masters’ Prose. Maria Gregoire earned a fourth place ribbon in Impromptu. Congratulations to these wonderful young scholars!
