The Society for Human Resource Management NMI Chapter invites its members, associated HR and management staff, and members of the public to attend its April membership meeting on Thursday, April 26.

NMI SHRM will have Rosalaine Togawa-Naputi, scholarship analyst, and Aileen Farley, Workforce Development coordinator, from the CNMI Scholarship Office, to discuss education opportunities available to you and your employees.

The presentation will provide information on the various scholarship and grants options that are available, as well as a discussion about the compliance requirement once a student has graduated and the opportunity this presents to CNMI employers.

The information gained through this program can be very useful for attendees to share with their employees who are interested in obtaining a degree while working.

Togawa-Naputi has been working with the CNMI Scholarship for over six years. She started off with the Co-operative Training program under WIA as a trainee in 2012 and became a permanent employee in 2014. She is currently working for the Scholarship and Grants section of the Scholarship Office as the scholarship analyst. Her role deals mainly with receiving all incoming application and supporting documents, reviewing them for scholarship eligibility, processing and disbursing awards, community and high school outreach, and data reporting.

Togawa-Naputi will be completing her degree in Business Management with an emphasis on Office Management from Purdue University in May 2018.

Farley has been employed in the compliance section of the CNMI Scholarship Office as their Workforce Development coordinator since April 2017.

Her main duties include linking scholarship recipients with available employment. She also recruits graduates and undergraduates into available fellowship and internship programs and assists in tracking former recipients whom have graduated or whom have discontinued enrollment to ensure their compliance requirements are met. Currently, Farley is working on her degree in Education with an emphasis in Rehabilitation and Human Services at the Northern Marianas College.

This lunch meeting will be held at the Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan’s Azucena Room on Thursday, April 26, 2018, from 11:30am to 1pm.

The presentation is open to the public and will be an invaluable opportunity for employers, Managers, and HR professionals and staff to learn more about the CNMI Scholarship Office and its programs. All interested individuals are invited to attend the NMI SHRM organization’s monthly luncheon to meet with the CNMI’s HR professionals and to find out what scholarship programs are available for their employees. The speakers will provide an opportunity for questions.

The presentation includes a special Fiesta lunch buffet at the cost of $20 for SHRM members and $30 for non-members.  Seats are limited, so make a reservation by contacting Penny Jones by e-mail at penelope.jones@hyatt.com or Denise Montenegro at denise.montenegro@hyatt.com or by telephone at 323-5867/68. (PR)
