Shirley’s improved to a 2-1-1 win-draw-loss record to dislodge Matansa FC from the No. 1 spot, as the latter forfeited its game against Kanoa FC (1-0-2) to fall to a 2-0-1 card.
Mia Carreon scored the lone goal for Shirley’s, finding the back of the net in the 53rd minute.
In the other girls U15 match last weekend, Tan Holdings FC bagged its second straight victory and joined Matansa in second place in the team standings following a 7-3 win against Paire FC (0-1-2).
Chloe Salvosa, who had three goals in their 4-0 win against Kanoa in Week 3, recorded her second hat-trick of the season to lift Tan Holdings to the easy win. She logged the first goal for Tan Holdings and tied the match after lighting up the board in the fourth minute. Renita Fleming drilled the first goal in the game a minute earlier.
Back-to-back goals (sixth and 24th minute) from Mary Kay Alferos handed Tan Holdings a 3-1 halftime lead, while Krizel Mae Tuazon made it a 4-1 advantage with her shot two minutes into the second half. Tan Holdings then canned its last three goals in a span of four minutes for the convincing win. The string of goals started in the 39th minute off Carreon’s second conversion, while Katherine Barroza knocked in the other one in the 40th, followed by Carreon’s third two minutes later.
Paire, on the other hand, got its two goals from Guinevere Borja, who scored in the 35th and 46th minute.
Paire has yet to break into the win column and will try to do so this Saturday when it collides against erstwhile leader Matansa at 2:30pm at Hopwood’s Pitch 1. Over at Pitch 2 at the same time, it will be MP United versus Kanoa, while in the second match at Pitch 1 at 4pm, Shirley’s will challenge Tan Holdings.
Meanwhile, only one game was played in the 2015 Dove Women’s Football Fall League at the Koblerville Elementary Scholl Field last Saturday with Kanoa FC beating Kagman High School, 3-1, in their Division B match.
Merlie Tolentino, Theresa Toves, and Marie Aldan scored for Kanoa, while Marcelyn Welson drilled the lone goal for Kagman. Matansa won via forfeiture over Paire in the other Division B game, while no Division A matches were scheduled last weekend.
