Jerlyn Castillo handed Shirley’s FC the division championship after scoring the winning goal in the 48th minute. De Jana Muna nailed the other goal for Shirley’s in the fifth minute, while Lyka Sally registered the equalizer for Matansa three minutes later.
Shirley’s finished the round-robin season with a 3-2-0 win-draw-loss record to lead Tan Holdings (3-1-1), Matansa (3-0-2), MP United (2-0-3), Kanoa (2-0-3), and Paire (0-1-4). The win was sweet revenge for Shirley’s, as it fell to Matansa, 0-3, in the division-championship deciding game last fall season. The victory also allowed Shirley’s to sweep the two titles this year, as it also topped the spring season, edging the same rival. Shirley’s held an 8-2-0 record in the spring season against the 7-3-0 mark of Matansa.
In other results in the girls U15 division, Tan Holdings and Kanoa ended the season on a winning note after prevailing in their respective games.
Tan Holdings nipped MP United, 6-5, to move up to second place—two notches higher from its finish in the spring season.
Chloe Salvosa led Tan Holdings’ win, as she made a hat-trick in their last game in the division. Salvosa recorded Tan Holdings’ lone goal in the first half, had her second early in the final frame, and hit the team’s last goal in the match. Krizel Mae Tuazon added a pair, while Chevy Kate Alipio posted the other goal.
Maaya Sato duplicated Salvosa’s feat, while Gillian Villagomez nailed the two other goals for MP United.
Kanoa also had a better finish this season, climbing from last to fifth place after shutting down Kanoa, 4-0.
Shakira Francisco, Pauline Grace Joyce, and Hannah Santos delivered goals for Paire, which got an own goal in first half.
Meanwhile, Tan Holdings remained on top of the team standings in the boys U18 division after beating Matansa, 2-0, at the Oleai Sports Complex Field.
Sean Perez and Joel Fruit scored for Tan Holdings with the former lighting up the board in the sixth minute and the latter doing the same in the 37th. Tan Holdings improved its record to 5-0-0, one win ahead of MP United, which got a free victory after Paire came up short in manpower for the second game in the division.
With the loss via forfeiture, Paire is still winless in five games and is behind Matansa, which holds a 1-0-4 card.
Only one playing week is left for the boys U18 division before the fall champion is crowned. The division champion will be known this Saturday when Tan Holdings collides against MP United in the second game at 4:15pm. A win by Tan Holdings will give the team the championship, while the loss will allowed MP United to tie the former’s record. Before the anticipated Tan Holdings-MP United tiff, Paire and Matansa will square off in the first match at 2:30pm.
