Division B champion Shirley’s FC-1 aims for a fitting finish in the spring season of the M-League as it plays its last game against Sun Palace this Sunday at the Hopwood Middle School Field.

Shirley’s FC-1, which secured the division title last month, holds an 11-2-0 win-draw-loss record in the eight-squad field and will try to keep its undefeated mark when it duels Sun Palace in the 3:15pm game. Going into its final match this season, Shirley’s FC-1 has collected 34 goals and has given up 8—the least allowed so far in the entire competition.

Sun Palace will also have its last game and will attempt to improve its 7-1-5 card for a chance to finish at No. 2 in the team standings. Sun Palace is ranked No. 3, going into the final week of the league, closely behind Kanoa, which owns a 7-2-4 mark and will face the Thundercats in its last match of the season. A 1-0 victory over Shirley’s FC-2 last Sunday gave Sun Palace its seventh win and Qiwei Wang scored the lone goal in that match in the 25th minute.

With the loss, Shirley’s FC-2 remained at fourth place with its 6-4-3 mark, and is followed by Matansa (6-3-4), Korean Football Association on Saipan (3-2-8), Women’s National Team (3-0-10), and the Thundercats (1-2-10). The Women’s National Team will have its last game versus Matansa at 3:15pm, while Shirley’s FC-2 will collide against KFAS.

The final four matches in Division B will determine the winner in the Golden Boot race, as there is a close race for the top honors among three players.

Wang has 10 so far to lead KFAS’ Edwin Kim and the former’s teammate Feng Yu, who have eight apiece. Kanoa’s Ian Maniago, Shirley’s FC-2’s Ryu Hoin and Dhiraj Chhetri, and Shirley’s FC-1’s Kosuke Sato have recorded seven each, while Shirley’s FC-2’s Jack Phan, Matansa’s Al-Amin Fnu, and Shirley’s FC-1’s Jerry Tan have scored 6 apiece.
