Sherwin Williams knocks out Joeten Superstore

Sherwin Williams eliminated Joeten Superstore after posting a 81-73 victory in their playoff game in the 2011 Blue Haus Invitational Basketball League last Friday at the Gualo Rai Basketball Court.

Joeten led at the start of the playoff match, but lost the game in the fourth due to foul troubles, while Sherwin Williams capitalized on the opportunity, hitting one free throw after another.

Mike Umali paced Joeten with six points for an early 20-17 lead in the opening 10 minutes. Then the match went back and forth until it was knotted at the half, 32-all. Sherwin Williams’ Dado Vistal led the charge with seven points in the second quarter.

After the pause, Sherwin knocked down two early threes and managed a slim 54-52 edge heading into the final period. Sherwin Williams also hit eight free throws in the third quarter.

Joeten continued its physical play causing George Cruz and Sam Fernandez to foul out in the fourth quarter. Sherwin Williams benefited from these infractions, as they sank 16 charities in the fourth period to secure a sound victory.

Jun Tabora delivered 10 points in the clutch, six came from the stripe, and finished with 24, while Vistal added 23. Rodney Sacramento scrambled for 17 in the defeat.

Joeten committed 29 fouls in the contest compared to Sherwin Williams’ 17. Sherwin cashed in on 23 points from the stripe, while Joeten managed only 10.

Joeten Superstore 73 – Sacramento 17, Devero 13, Umali 12, Camacho 10, S. Fernandez 6, Casabuena 5, Cruz 4, R. Fernandez 2, Sablan 2, Tankoy 2.

Scoring by quarters: 17-20, 32-32, 54-52, 81-73.
