Jacqueline Rae Shepard is the new spokesperson of the Department of Public Safety, effective yesterday.

She takes over the post from Lt. Jason Tarkong, who has been doing the job in an acting capacity.

Prior to DPS, Shepard worked as a news anchor for KSPN TV.

“I am very excited that Dec. 11, 2017, marks my first day as DPS public information officer. During my time as a news anchor and reporter, I’ve had several opportunities to work with our police officers and DPS Commissioner Robert Guerrero. Every interaction left me impressed with the professionalism and integrity exhibited by both the officers and staff,” she said.

Shepard is originally from Aurora, Colorado. She earned her degree in Broadcast Communications from Metropolitan State University in Denver. She then moved to Los Angeles, during which she worked for Torrance City Cable.
