In anticipation of possible strong winds and heavy rain brought about by feeder band activity associated with Super Typhoon Atsani, three public schools were opened yesterday at 1pm to accommodate those who are presently residing in temporary tent shelters.

The three schools are Chacha Ocean View Middle School, Kagman High School, and Koblerville Elementary School.

Chacha’s shelter manager is Vince Dela Cruz and he can be contacted at 664-4100 or 783-8988. The shelter manager for Kagman High Leila Staffler and her number is 664-3780 or 783-8979. Rizalina P. Liwag is shelter manager for Koblerville Elementary and she may be contacted at 664-3965 or 783-8984.

Residents are asked to get in touch with the respective shelter managers should they need assistance in making their way to the nearest campus open for refuge.

The Joint Information Center, in association with the Office of the Governor and the Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management, urges the community to take caution as heavy weather conditions are expected as this system passes to the far north of the CNMI this week.
