Shark Attack seizes top spot in Obyan Division

Wild Bill’s Bar & Grill’s Shark Attack toppled erstwhile Obyan Division top dog Pirata of D’Pirates Bar as the Saipan Billiard Association’s 2012 Budweiser Summer/Fall Open 8-Ball League season continued last Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the Agingan Division pairings resulted in a trio of lopsided road wins with current leader IT&E Voyagers maintaining control over the field.
Shark Attack manhandled 19th Hole Bar’s Poksu (25-24), 5-2, at home to improve its win-loss card to 30-19. Shark Attack now holds the No. 1 spot by a game over Pirata, which also came out a winner, defeating 19th Hole’s Titans (19-30), 4-3, on the road. The frontrunners were tied coming into Tuesday’s matches.
Notably, Jonny’s Crazy 8 pulled off an upset over sister team Team SCS, 4-3, in a home draw; the pair is now tied for fourth place in the standings with identical records of 22-27.
Pirata will have home field advantage this Tuesday when they take on Shark Attack, while Poksu welcomes Crazy 8 and Team SCS plays host to the Titans.
Top-ranked IT&E Voyagers along with sister team IT&E Incredibles and the Docomo Hustlers trudged forward in the Agingan Division standings after notching a set of 6-1 victories over separate opponents.
Jonny’s Bar & Grill’s IT&E Voyagers remained nine games ahead of the pack after dropping Jonny’s Home Boyz Five (23-26), 6-1, in a road draw and now boasts a record of 39-10.
Utopia Bar’s Docomo Hustlers still clings to second place by a game after storming into Joe’s Bar & Grill’s and knocking off Fotten Palau (9-40), 6-1.
The third-ranked IT&E Incredibles (29-20), of Sand’s Bar, also kept hot on the trail thanks to a 6-1 thumping of VFW Post 3457’s X-Tream (17-32) on the road.
This Tuesday, the IT&E Voyagers hosts X-Tream on Tuesday; the Docomo Hustlers call on the Home Boyz Five; and the IT&E Incredibles welcome Fotten Palau.
