Sex maniac on the loose in Dandan
Reporter
A sex maniac on the loose is believed to be behind a series of sexual assaults on at least two young women and two girls in three separate incidents in Dandan.
Police officer Jason Tarkong said yesterday that investigators are eyeing the strong possibility that there is just one suspect, based on the descriptions given by the witnesses or victims.
Tarkong said the three sexual assault incidents happened on March 25 and 30, 2012, and April 2, 2012, all occurring around 4am inside homes in Dandan.
The NMI Crime Stoppers Program is seeking the community’s assistance for information on these incidents, said Tarkong, who is also coordinator for the Crime Stoppers Program.
The latest incident on April 1, Sunday, occurred at about 4am when a 19-year-old woman was awakened when she felt someone trying to pull off her blanket. When she opened her eyes, she was surprised to see a male figure standing over her and looking down at her.
The girl screamed, prompting the suspect to run out the door. Family members were awakened and discovered that the suspect gained entry by breaking into the bathroom window.
The girl described the suspect as about 5’5” tall, medium built, and his head was covered with a brown T-shirt.
On March 25, a Sunday and also around 4am, a 16-year-old girl woke up to a male person leaning over her and kissing her on the lips. The girl alerted family members and the suspect fled the area. She described the suspect as wearing a jacket with a hoodie over his head, covering his face.
On March 30, Friday, also at 4am, an unidentified person broke into a house in Upper Dandan and sexually assaulted two girls, both minors.
The father of one of the girls woke up around 4am to the screams of his daughter and her female friend coming from their bedroom. The father ran to the bedroom and found the girls crouched in a corner.
Police investigation showed that as the girls were sleeping, they felt someone touching them improperly. One of the girls screamed, prompting the suspect to run out the door and house.
The father checked the house and discovered that the suspect’s point of entry was through a window where the screen had been cut open.
The girls described the suspect’s face as covered with a piece of cloth. The suspect was described as possibly a local male, about 5’5” tall, with very short hair and slim body.
Tarkong said the Department of Public Safety and Crime Stoppers need the public’s help for the arrest of the suspect.
