The stage is set for Rites of Passage 21: Throwdown as Trench Tech’s first event of the year goes down tonight and features two of the islands’ prides—Frank “The Crank” Camacho and Kelvin “The Big Hit” Fitial.

Camacho will fight in the main event, going up against Extreme Combat Korea’s Gun Han Park in the 170-lb bout. Fitial, on the other hand, will duel Pete “Big Mac” Miyasaki of GuamFightClub in the 250-lb catch weight in the semi-main event at the Marianas Business Plaza.

Both Fitial and Camacho are looking for back-to-back victories after winning their previous bouts in contrasting fashions. Fitial is coming off a unanimous decision triumph over Australia’s Benjamin Sosoli in the PXC 56: Pacific Xtreme Combat 56 held last March 25 this year, while Camacho earned a TKO win (punches) versus Korean Hyun Joo Kim in ROP 20: Conquer in August last year.

Weigh-ins for the two anticipated bouts along with 12 other fights were held yesterday at GIG Discotheque.

Tonight’s Throwdown will open with a boxing match between Trench Tech’s Jordan “The Machine” Manglona and Guam 360MMA’s Peter Rodriguez and will be followed by a kickboxing duel between Guam Muay Thai’s Chris Redina and Trench Tech’s very own Kier “TheRadicalKid” Agda.

For the MMA bouts lineup, Guam Muay Thai’s Shane Moore will start the action at the octagon cage as he takes on compatriot and independent fighter Vince Acfalle. For the second MMA fight, it will be Guam versus Saipan as Andres “The Tanapag Beach BadBoy” Camacho challenges the visiting Kyle Gumataotao.

The eight other preliminary MMA bouts are as follows and have a lot of fighters seeing action in ROP for the first time: George Grove vs Brendon Manglona; John Mendiola vs Austin John King; Austin Petrus vs Patrick Ungcangco; Joey Boy Crisostomo Jr. vs Vince Torres; K.J. “Man Down” Villagomez vs Juan “Hot Pocket” Lizama; L.D. Ogo vs Torsten Rosser; Sang Hyun Park vs Mark “The Dark” Nuique; and Ray “The Major” Duenas vs either Jones Langu or Phil David.
