The natural beauty of Rota was highlighted by the Marianas Visitors Authority in Seoul this month with the photo exhibition “Trip to Rota” on Aug. 16-22, 2017.

The exhibit featured the work of professional photographers/celebrities who visited the island in June 2017 with the photography club Nemo to promote the Marianas as the best destination for photography and travel.

Approximately 70 travel trade partners, media, digital influencers, and co-op partners attended the exhibition opening ceremony on Aug. 16. Also in attendance were participating photographers, including actor Jungjin Lee, a member of famous singing group Ulala Session Myunghoon Kim, a member of K-pop idol group 9-Muses Hyuna, and five other photographers.

“The exhibition was well-received,” said MVA managing director Christopher A. Concepcion. “Each of the participants shared their feelings and impressions of Rota, saying that Rota has its own ‘analogue beauty’ which they thought was very unique compared to other destinations all over the world. Hyuna of K-pop idol group 9-Muses mentioned that she was so satisfied with her photos and video footage that she has used them in her official music video for her new single album title song Doong Doong.”

Several travel trade newspapers have already released articles regarding the photo exhibition, and powerful bloggers with more than 5,000 daily visitors uploaded their posts about Rota and the exhibition.

The MVA is also conducting an online event on its social media channels to promote the exhibition and the destination itself, increasing both the number of followers and their engagement rates. The prizes include ICN-SPN round-trip air tickets, cameras, sunglasses and coffee e-coupons.

The MVA also conducted another online consumer event for those who visited the gallery during the exhibition period.

The photo exhibition is being held at S.I. Space gallery in Cheongdam-dong, an upmarket shopping and culture area in Seoul. (MVA)
