SEDA honors four pioneers in awards banquet

Ben Aguon, Mara Lambon, Polly Omechelang, and Jerry Zapanta were recognized as four of the Saipan Electronic Dart Association’s pioneer players during Sunday’s 2012 Bud Light Winter/Summer League awards banquet held in Charley’s Cabaret at Pacific Islands Club.

The foursome received special trophies for remaining active members of the league since its inception over 19 years ago.

Zapanta was listed as the 33rd player to register, while Omechelang signed in as the 66th, Lambon as 86th, and Aguon as the 105th player to join the league. There are currently well over 2,000 registered players that have signed up throughout the years.

Moreover, “Mr. SEDA” honors were given to Mario Espinoza, Rolly Morales, and Bernard Paras, while Omechelang and Beverly Ngirmekur were recognized as this season’s “Miss SEDA” winners.

In addition, other postseason Bud Light Cup winners aside from what was previously reported on Monday included Tuesday B Division’s 80 Proofers of SOS Bar & Grill and Sea Bridge; B Fanihi’s SOS-DJ Fish; B Flame Tree’s VFW Post 3457-Good Guys II; C Division’s Bammy’s restaurant-DRP; and Inter-Government division’s Team CUC, also of Bammy’s.

The 80 Proofers members include captain Romy Hernane, Jun Azarcon, Rolly Bermiso, Jeff Galvez, Leo Itaas, Sonny Lerio, and Jason Manuson.

DJ Fish is comprised of team captain Mario Espinoza with Jun Azarcon, Rolly Bermiso, Cliff Hamoy, Danilo and Julie Salinas, and Allan Avila.

Good Guys II is made up of captain Ray Cabrera, Elsie and Jun Cabrera, Anthony Camacho, Bob Castro, Jarvin Mendiola, Justin Mizutani, and Ferdy Ngirmekur.

DRP fields captain Ryan Paras, Dan Dela Cruz, Cliff Hamoy, and Brian Nelvis.

Team CUC members include captain Pat Taitano, Ray Cepeda Erwin Clavecillas, Greg Repeki, Jay Sablan, Joy Silva, Noel Unay, and Jesse Villar.

Team Sportsmanship honors went out to Master Division’s Sabalu Boyz, of Bammy’s; A Division’s VFW-Primos; Tuesday B’s K-1 Scorpions, of Poseidon; B Fanihi’s Oneshot, also of Poseidon; B Flame Tree’s Lilapuching, of Bammy’s; C Division’s V2 Shooters, of Oceanside Bar & Grill; Ladies League’s Daffodils of Joe’s Steakhouse; and Inter-Government’s DPS-Bad Boyz, of Jonny’s Bar & Grill.

MARPAC and SOS Bar & Grill also received special plaques of appreciation their sponsorships in the league.

This season’s selected most valuable players, included master’s Jun Olita, A Division’s Mario Abo, Tuesday B’s Bernard Paras, B Fanihi’s Rod Osario, B Flame Tree’s Blaren Castro, C Division’s Jake Licop, Ladies’ Aida Laniyo, and Inter- Government’s George Sablan.

Individual top awardees included Master’s Olita, A Division’s Dean Borja, Tuesday B’s Rolly Bermiso, B Fanihi’s Bernard Paras, B Flame Tree’s Ray San Nicolas, C Division’s Richard Presinede, Ladies’ Laniyo, and Inter-Government’s George Sablan.

Hi-Out winners included Master’s Julian Camacho (151), A Division’s Manding Legaspi (143), Tuesday B’s Dexter Mendiola (156), B Fanihi’s Victor Borja (139), B Flame Tree’s Manny Ada (120), C-division’s Moody Zamora (135), Ladies’ Matrina Lisua (146). and Inter- Government’s Jess Villar (152).

Hi-In winners included Master’s Olita (170), A Division’s Jeff Pangelinan (170), Tuesday B’s Barnard Paras (152), B Fanihi’s Fred Salavaria, B Flame Tree’s Justin Mizutani (160), C Division’s Jake Ilago (160), Ladies’ Laniyo (160), and Inter- Government’s Jay Sablan (170).

Other sponsors included the 19th Hole Bar& Grill, IT&E, Sands, Es’y Kitchen, the Waterfront, Naked Fish Bar & Grill and Island Apparel.

The deadline to sign up for the upcoming 2012 Summer/Fall season is July 14; a 7pm organizational meeting is also scheduled on this date at Oceanside Bar & Grill.
