A security guard was arrested for allegedly beating up his pregnant girlfriend during their argument at his residence in Dandan last week.

John Sanchez Cabrera Jr., 30, a security guard/officer of Best Sunshine International, Ltd., was taken to Superior Court last week on charges of assault and battery and disturbing the peace.

Superior Court Associate Judge Teresa Kim-Tenorio allowed Cabrera to post $300 cash and $2,700 in unsecured bond.

Preliminary hearing will be on May 9 at 9am.

Assistant attorney general Heather Barcinas appeared for the government. Chief public defender Douglas Hartig was appointed as counsel for Cabrera.

Police Detective Catherine B. Pangelinan stated in her report that last Tuesday a police officer responded to a house in Dandan, where a domestic violence was reported.

Pangelinan said when the officer arrived at the house, the victim, who is four months pregnant, was crying and tightly hugging her 2-year-old baby.

The victim suffered a big lump on the forehead and had red marks and scratches on the left side of face down to the left neck. She also had scratches on the back of her arm, police said.

Pangelinan said police arrested Cabrera that same day after he admitted hitting his girlfriend.

Police investigation showed that the two had an argument when their baby was crying. When the victim told Cabrera she wanted to move back to her mother in Guam, he got angry.

Cabrera allegedly threw her to the floor and repeatedly slapped her.

Cabrera’s mother told police that Cabrera was cooking in the kitchen when their baby cried.

The girlfriend, who was in the bedroom, came out and took the baby from the kitchen. The girlfriend slammed the door and there was banging in the bedroom.

Cabrera checked the room but the girlfriend refused to open the door.

The mother said Cabrera kicked the door open and threw his girlfriend to the floor and repeatedly hit her on the face.
