The search for Jason Fitial continues, with members of the Refaluwasch community working to help the Department of Public Safety determine his whereabouts.

According to a public post on Facebook by one of the community’s members, Gordon Marciano, over 40 men and women from the Refaluwasch community gathered last week to search for Fitial, who reportedly went missing sometime on June 12.

The Refaluwasch community is reportedly continuing its search for Fitial, working alongside DPS who has no new updates on the case.

DPS spokesperson Dre Pangelinan said that, as of yesterday, DPS has not been able to locate Fitial since the report that he was missing was filed over two weeks ago.

“At this moment in time, we have conducted multiple searches around the areas [where] he was last sighted. The department will continue to entertain any new credible leads that come in. We encourage the public to share any [information], no matter how insignificant it may seem, by calling 911 or the Crimes Stoppers hotline,” he said.

As for the rumor that has been circulating around the community about Fitial’s body being found in the Oleai village this past week, Pangelinan said this rumor is false.

According to Saipan Tribune archives, DPS received a 911 call last June 12, at about 1:44pm, reporting a possible missing individual in San Jose, Saipan. Family members told the officer that Fitial was last seen on Wednesday, June 10, at about 9:30am.

He had arrived at their home in San Jose and asked to borrow a machete to cut down some fruits from a nearby tree. The family member did not check to see if Fitial went into the wooded area behind the home.

Fitial was last seen wearing a blue, red, and yellow striped shirt and a pair of short pants.
