Search continues for missing Marine in Guam

USS BONHOMME RICHARD (LHD 6), at sea—The search continues for a Marine that went missing at approximately 5pm (Guam time), Aug. 9, after being swept out to sea while swimming near Tumon Bay in Guam.

The Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Navy are working in coordination with the Guam Fire Department to search the area where the Marine went missing. Aerial and surface search teams are involved in the search.

The Marine is part of Combat Logistics Battalion 31, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, based in Okinawa Japan. The Marine was embarked on the USS Green Bay (LPD-20).

The identity of the Marine is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. (Marine Corps Activity Guam)
