Application forms for the aid program may be picked up at the Saipan Community School, which is located on Beach Road in Susupe. Summer hours for the SCS office are 8am to noon on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
SCS, which was the first Protestant school on Saipan, is a private school for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Although it is a Christian school, the pre-high school preparatory academy welcomes students from all religious and cultural backgrounds.
“We at SCS are not only dedicated to excellence in education, but also work to develop leadership qualities in our students through community service,” said Saipan Community Church Pastor Phil Warren, who is director of SCS. “Our school participates in competitive academic pursuits, including Math Court, the forensics league, the National Spelling Bee, and the science fair. We also partner in island activities like local beach cleanup efforts and the Red Cross walk-a-thin.”
The school offers additional programs to enrich and round out its students’ education, Warren said. “We are proud of our uke and music programs, art classes and the variety of athletics SCS students may choose from.”
To make an appointment to discuss your child’s eligibility for the new aid program, or for more information about SCS, call the school at 234-6687 or Warren at 783-0415. Saipan Community School begins its new school year on Aug. 11. (SCS)
