SCS fetes NJSDA team

Saipan Community School congratulates its students who participated in the National Junior Speech and Debate competition last Oct. 14.
The SCS junior high students have worked hard and taken initiative to choose and learn each piece. In this competition SCS had 13 students who chose to join with eight students placing and securing 11 placement awards. A special congratulations goes out to the students representing SCS who placed in this event including:
• 6th grader: Olivia Hwang for placing 5th in the Prose event and 4th in the Poetry event.
• 7th graders: Seo Young Baek and Jesus Roman Sablan for placing 1st in the DUO category, One An for placing 4th in Impromptu, Amena Mahmud for placing 4th in Poetry MA, Jesus Roman Sablan for placing 2nd in the Storytelling event, and Daniel Kang for placing 5th in the Prose event.
• 8th graders: Moon Zeng for placing 2nd in Impromptu, Tina Zheng for placing 2nd in the storytelling category and 3rd in Impromptu, and finally to Rose Zhou for placing 4th in Prose.
SCS would also like to thank the parents and coaches for their support in these extra-curricular activities.
