Two teams from Scoutz Youth Baseball left Saipan yesterday to take part in the Inaugural Labor Day Marianas Friendship Baseball Tournament set from Sept. 2 to 5 in Guam.
The Scoutz 1 team is made up of Noah Agoun, Kaipo Dikito, Bing Nakamura, Ried Teregeyo, Chris Pangelinan, Angelo Igitol, Kide Blanco, I.J. Iguel, Antonio Norita, Charlie McDonald, Keahi, Terrell Rabago, and Justin Camacho.
The Scoutz 2 squad includes Forest Pangelinan, Jarrod Muna, Jylon Sablan, King Evangelista, Justin Magofna, Joel DeLeon Guerrero, Dizzle Diaz, Johnny Diaz, Joel Borja, Jason Reyes, and Jesse Norita.
Both teams’ coaches are Ben Leon Guerrero and Peter Camacho
Jerome Delos Santos, who is serving as team manager, said he expects both Scoutz teams to represent the CNMI with pride and humbleness and to play to the best of their abilities.
“Win or lose we’ll always do our best. These kids worked very hard to get to this point and I’m honored to be coaching these amazing teams. These kids are ready to play and showcase their skills after four years of not being able to play baseball. They are so excited to step on the diamond again.”
Delos Santos conceded that Guam may have the edge in experience, but Team Scoutz will continue to grind and play with passion every game.
“The Guam teams have been playing many seasons, so these boys have good competition. But I am very confident in my team and every player’s capability on the field. We are going to go to Guam to play our very best and to show what my Scoutz U18 team has to offer,” he said.
Scoutz Youth Baseball would like to thank the following sponsors for making their trip to Guam possible: Marcia Ayuyu of McDonald’s, Johnny’s Bar and Grill, Last Shot Bar, Belau Amateur Softball Association, Gov. Ralph DLG Torres, Rep. Joel Camacho, Sen. Vinnie Sablan, House Speaker Edmund Villagomez, and Mr. and Mrs. Lenette and Ross Sablan.
Delos Santos also thanked the parents of the players and Scoutz Youth Baseball board members David Attao, Beverley Camacho, Lani Diaz, and Carmen Sablan.
“I also would like to thank gold medalist, Shane Yamada, and his family for stopping by the airport to show love and support and also for their kind donations. Team Scoutz appreciates you and your family…Thank you to everyone else who has supported the Scoutz organization,” he said.
