The return of 5-on-5 basketball was heralded in big way last Saturday when the Inaugural SCLC Basketball League held its opening ceremony at the Gillette Multi-Purpose Gymnasium in Gualo Rai.
Organizers behind the league didn’t pull any punches in the much ballyhooed program that opened with a dance number from Saipan Music and Dance Studio dancers and followed by team parades for both the open and masters divisions.
Saipan Centennial Lions Club president Marie Javier also took care of the welcome message where she thanked everyone who made the league’s opening ceremony a success.
The opening ceremony was then capped off by the selection of the best muse which went to Marianas Dental Clinic’s Shaine Solomon, a 22-year-old who works at the company.
League co-coordinators Mikee Guirey and Boy Garcia extended their gratitude to SCLC, Tan Sui Lin Foundation, PC Bargain, Daniel’s, BES House of Chicken, Puerto Rico Bento, SM, SMADS, Saipan Ice and Water Co., Villa Luna, Eagle Construction, and RHF Marketing Services for making the league possible.
