The four-day 2016 PSS/McDonald’s All Schools Track and Field Championships will start this afternoon as student-athletes battle for medals in the 60m run and 4x100m relay race at the Hopwood Junior High School Field.

Meet director Elias Rangamar said the series of 60m sprint races for elementary, middle school, and high school divisions will kick off at 4:30pm after the 4pm opening ceremony. The 4x100m relay races in all division will begin at 5:30pm. Students from both the public and private schools on Saipan and Tinian who made the grade in the two-weeklong qualifying races will compete in today’s two events and the 12 remaining contests.

Tomorrow, the organizing Northern Marianas Athletics will have the 1,500m runs for middle and high school and softball throws for elementary at 4pm, while the 200m races for all divisions will take place at 5pm. At 5:45, NMA will have the 400m races.

Then on Friday, the meet will start with the 800m races at 4pm for the elementary, middle and high school divisions, while the shot put competition will also be held at the same time. Up next is the 100m run for all age groups at 5pm, while the 3,000m for middle and high school divisions is slated at 5:45pm.

For the final day of the All Schools meet on Saturday, NMA has lined up the discus throw and 4x400m relay at 9am, while the javelin throw and mixed medley relay (4x100m, 4x200m, and 4x400m) are scheduled at 10am. The mixed medley relay will feature two boys and two girls from the participating schools. There were no qualifiers in the relays, so these events are open races.

NMA is reminding all students-athletes, who qualified for the various run and field events, and their coaches to be at the venue before 4pm.

Meanwhile, Koblerville Elementary School, Brilliant Star, Saipan Community, and Kagman Elementary School students qualified in the 400m and 800m runs last week, while William S. Reyes bets joined the former’s students in the 1,500m event. Agape Christian School, Saipan International School, and Hopwood, on the other hand, gained slots to the 800m and 3,000m races. SIS and Agape along with Marianas High School and Marianas Baptist Academy students qualified in the field events.
