School students collect over $60K to support Red Cross

The 34th Annual Red Cross Walkathon last April 22 was a big success thanks to thousands of participants, stakeholders, donors, and volunteers.
Close to 3,000 individuals joined the event with 2,105 registered walkers on Saipan, Rota, and Tinian. Awards and prizes will be given out again this year. The Top 3 schools with the most walkers were: Oleai Elementary (350), Mount Carmel School (194), and Green Meadow School (139). The schools with the largest amount of donations collected were: Oleai Elementary ($10,173), Agape Christian School ($7,684) and Mount Carmel School ($7,027).
“I am always so inspired by the generosity of our students and grateful to PSS and our private schools for their unwavering support,” said John Hirsh, executive director of the American Red Cross-NMI Chapter.
The Red Cross thanked all the students, parents, and coordinators for all their time and energy to support the Red Cross humanitarian work here in the Commonwealth. Extra special thanks to Aetna Insurance for their premier sponsorship. Major supporters also included VANS T-shirt Co., Coca-Cola, Foremost, Subway, Joeten, PIC, Mobil, Bank of Guam, RNV Construction, as well as many other businesses and community groups who provided financial and in-kind support.
