Scheduled power outages on Friday

There will be scheduled power interruptions this Friday, Aug. 30, from 9am to 11am and from 2pm to 4pm.

The morning outage will be a sectionalized lateral outage on the Kiya 2 and Kiya 4 distribution circuit and will affect partials of Susupe, partials of Chalan Kanoa, and Chalan Piao.

– Power service area(s) affected: Guma Hustisya, DPS, Mt. Carmel School, Bank of Guam Chalan Piao Branch, Hopwood Middle School, Juan Nong Street, San Isidro Ave. (Sandy Beach Hotel)

– Water service area(s) affected: None

– Wastewater service area(s) affected: A-9, A-11

– Traffic lights affected: Chalan Piao traffic light

– Work to be performed: To replace the temporary conductor jumpers that were installed during Super Typhoon Yutu at Chalan Piao-As Perdido intersection and near the Kanoa Resort barracks in Susupe.

The afternoon outage will be a sectionalized lateral outage on the Feeder 2 distribution circuit, affecting Route 30 Beach Road and impacting Commonwealth Utilities Corp. customers from the Horiguchi Building to the Marianas Visitor Authority building, Alaihai Ave.; Chicharica Ave.; Route 317; Pupulu Drive; Dotse Place; Chaoti Place, Alalak drive, Pumpkin Street

– Power service area(s) affected: Route 30 Beach Road (from Horiguchi Bldg-US District Court to Marianas Visitor Authority), Alaihai Ave.; Chicharica Ave.; Rout 317; Pupulu Drive; Dotse Place; Chaoti Place, Alalak drive, Pumpkin Street

– Water service area(s) affected: None

– Wastewater service area(s) affected: S-10, S-11, S-12

– Traffic lights affected: Atkins Kroll traffic light

– Work to be performed: Install new air break switch near Moylan’s Insurance beach road.

The purpose of the power interruption is to de-energize the primary lines to allow CUC line crews to safely install new air break switch and replace conductor jumpers in the affected locations.

Water services may be affected in the area during the power interruption; however, all services should be restored after the power is re-energized.

Because of the scale of work that will be performed, CUC asks travelers to take alternate routes or to exercise caution when driving through the affected areas. CUC appreciates the understanding of the community during this period.
