SCC to elect new officers in November
The Saipan Chamber of Commerce will conduct its annual elections for directors and officers this coming SCC general membership meeting on Nov. 2, 2011, at the Saipan Grand Hotel.
The SCC selection committee is verifying candidate eligibility to provide past president Jim Arenovski the official candidate slate for this coming election.
To date, eight eligible candidates have committed to running for the two board vacancies and four officer positions, according to Chamber executive director Richard Pierce
Pierce is urging Chamber members to submit any additional nominations for the six board/officer positions. “This system will allow the SCC selection committee to review for eligibility, as well as contact those nominated to confirm as to their desire to offer themselves for the actual election on Nov. 2,” he said in an email message to Chamber members.
Nominations may be emailed to coordinator@saipanchamber.com.
The minimum qualifications for directors/officers are as follows:
– The candidate must have held membership in good standing in the Chamber for a minimum of one year.
– The candidate must have attended at least 20 percent (or three) of the SCC general membership meetings the current calendar year.
– The candidate must have actively participated in one or more committees, seminars, forums, and projects as opportunities for Chamber involvement of the current calendar year.
– Candidates for president/chairperson must have served a full year on the board of directors within the last five years.
Proxy vote/s requests must be received by company/organization representatives before Nov 1. (SCC)
