SCC monthly workshop on Jan. 20
The Saipan Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly seminar on Tuesday, Jan. 20, from 9am to 12pm at the Marianas Business Plaza, Suite 315.
The three-hour workshop will concentrate on the rights and responsibilities of both employees and employers, and how to inform, prevent, and document the sensitive issues of EEO concerns and workplace sexual harassment.
Learn how to implement and apply legally defensible best practices in your organization. This half-day seminar helps you gain confidence and expertise in dealing with EEO law and employee issues. You’ll gain a comprehensive overview of employee discrimination/EEO and sexual harassment laws.
Who should attend?
• HR managers, business owners, and supervisors/managers at all levels.
What you will cover?
• Major provisions…who is covered…the purpose of the EEO…..types of discrimination…what does it not cover
• Wrongful termination and at-will employment: definitions, contracts, public policy, negotiated resignations, and discharge for cause
• How to identify sexual harassment

• Avoid costly litigations
• Recruit, hire, discipline and terminate employees in a legal manner
• Develop HR policies and procedures that comply with employment law and do not violate federal statutes
• Know what constitutes “reasonable accommodations” and how to implement them without creating unique hardship
