Saipan Baseball League coordinator Tony Rogolifoi is asking all umpires to attend tonight’s meeting at 5:30pm at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium conference room.

Ground rules and other technical matters for the upcoming season is the main topic for discussion.

Rogolifoi said that newly certified umpires Roman Borja and AJ Murig must also attend the said meeting.

On Wednesday, Jan. 7, Rogolifoi will hold a separate meeting with the managers and coaches of the seven participating teams in the new SBL season. The meeting is also set at 5:30pm at the Ada gym conference room.

He also reminded all teams to secure their respective sponsors, submit their 25-member rosters, pay the $1,000 entrance fee, and acquire their complete uniforms. Players are also required to turn in waiver forms, which are already available at the NMSA office inside the Ada Gym and will be distributed at coaches/managers meeting.

Defending champions Brewers lead this year’s SBL cast and will be ran by new manager Joey Dela Cruz. The Brewers will go for their third straight SBL title against the Raena Camacho-managed Northern Yankees, the Fielders of Pat Tenorio, Jon Tenorio’s North Starz, the Franco Flores-handled A’s, Froilan Camacho’s Jets, and the Doru Camacho-coached Falcons.

The Brewers will open their season on Jan. 12, Monday, against the Fielders at 6:30pm at the Francisco M. “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field.

In other opening week schedule, the North Starz will play against the A’s on Jan. 14, Wednesday; the Jets will take on the Falcons on Jan. 16, Friday; and the Yankees will make their debut against the North Starz on Jan. 19.

For more information, call Rogolifoi at 234-6672.
