SBL eyes new season in early 2018

The Saipan Baseball League is encouraging interested teams to start their preparation for the 2018 season, which SBL plans to open either by late January or early February.

SBL coordinator Tony Rogolifoi is urging teams and players to begin securing their respective uniforms and other equipment.

“Team sponsorship have to be secured, team attire and game equipment and other team necessities are also required, and must be purchased prior to opening day,” said Rogolifoi.

Waivers and other forms are available at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium, while a meeting will be scheduled next month. Managers, coaches, and players are advised to wait for additional announcements.

Meanwhile, the SBL is trying to finish the Masters and Under 25 leagues this month or before the year ends.

To meet its target, the SBL has started having the Masters league play two games with a two-hour time limit a few weeks ago, The league also plans to add a Saturday schedule to make sure the season will be completed before the Saipan Little League opens its competition.
