Saralu moves on top of batting leaderboard

The GSM Brewers’ Saralu is now the batting leader in the 2016 Saipan Baseball League.

Saralu, after the Brewers’ win over Titanium last Friday, earned a batting average of .588 off his 10-for-17 performance at the plate to dislodge the Falcons’ Giovanni Mira from the top spot. Mira hit 7-for-13 for an average of.538, while the Chalan Kanoa Bears’ Jose Lizama and Titanium’s Jhace Palacios are the two other players who average at least .500 and are tied for third to fourth place in the batting chart. Lizama in four games was 8-for-16, while Palacios went 6-for-12. The Blue Jays’ Davie Matagolai rounded out the Top 3 after logging a batting average of .467 from his 7-for-15 clip.

Ten other players are on the batting leaders list with Titanium’s Jun Rabauliman (.462) in sixth place and followed by the Aces’ John Tudela (.462), the North Starz’ Roke Tenorio (.438), Titanium’s Patrick Tenorio (.429), the Bears’ Peyton Lizama (.429), the Aces’ Lamarc Iguel (.421), Verlance Secharmidal (.412), and Ben Jones Jr. (.412), the Falcons’ A.J. Evangelista (.400), and the Brewers’ Anthony Tenorio (.389).

In the pitching race, the Falcons’ Ricky Joe Riungel is still on top with his perfect 0.00 ERA. He pitched 10 innings and has yet to allow a single earned run. The Brewers’ Lancaster Secharmidal is in second place with his 1.13 ERA, while the Aces’ Michael Muna Jr. is ranked third with his 1.20 ERA.

Also making it to the pitching leaderboard, which is based on 9 or more innings pitched, are the North Starz’s Jared Camacho (1.29), the Bears’ Jeffrey Lizama (1.80), the Blue Jays’ Keola Camacho (1.80), the Yankees’ Peter Lieto (1.86), the Bears’ Jose Lizama Jr. (2.25), the Falcons’ Frankie Lieto (2.84), and VJ King (3.00).

In other statistics, Lancaster Secharmidal has the most strikeouts so far with 21, leading the 18 of Peter Lieto, Muna, Lizama Jr. and Joe Palacios. In runs, Peyton Lizama is ahead with 8, while Jose Lizama Jr. has the most doubles (3) and RBIs (6). The Brewers’ Anthony Tenorio is on top of the triples race with his 3.
