San Vicente Church bike race Saturday

Bikers in last month's Hell of Marianas pass through the road in front of San Vicente Church, which will be the start/finish line for Saturday's race that Mt. Tapochao Bike Club is organizing. (Roselyn B. Monroyo) The Mt. Tapochao Bike Club will be holding its first bike race for the season this Saturday.

Dubbed as the Inaugural San Vicente Church Bike Race, the event is open to both MTB and road bike riders and will start at 7:30am.  Registration begins at 6:30am at San Vicente Church with an entry fee of only $10. All proceeds from the race will be donated to San  Vicente Church.

For the MTB race, bikers can compete in the men’s and women’s open division and over 40 and under 40 age groups. The road race will have two categories-men and women.

There will be two courses for the MTB race. The short course will start and end at San Vicente Church with riders passing through Dandan road en route to the back side of the airport and then straight to airport runway road, Naftan road, Flame Tree and airport roads, Chalan Tun Herman Pan, and Isa Drive

For the championship course, from the backside of the airport, bikers will go to the Hawaiian Rock Quarry, Naftan trail, Obyan Beach road, Naftan road (right turn), airport runway road, Naftan road, Flame Tree and airport roads, Chalan Tun Herman Pan, and Isa Drive before returning to San Vicente.

The road bike course will bring bikers to airport road, Coral Ocean Point and Pacific Islands Club. From PIC, they will turn right to Mobil back up to the airport road, Isa Drive, and then to San Vicente Church.
