San Nicolas: Tinian projects moving forward

Share

Mayor Joey P. San Nicolas and the Tinian leadership have worked together to push the renovation and rehabilitation of Tinian Municipal Buildings project forward.

With the support of Gov. Ralph DLG Torres, Capital Improvement Project office, Commonwealth Development Authority, and other government agencies with funding coming from Public Law 17-8 bond money, the project is well on its way.

As soon as the contract is finalized, the shovel will hit the ground and the Municipality of Tinian & Aguiguan will see renovation and rehabilitation work on the Tinian Farmer’s Market Building, the Tinian Youth Center, and the Little League Facility.

Upon execution of the contract, the contractor will complete the project within 240 calendar days.

This move forward is only the beginning for the municipality and again emphasizes San Nicolas’ and the Tinian Leadership’s commitment to projects that will improve public services for the people of Tinian.

In this case, island residents will see work on municipal buildings that will assist Tinian’s local farmers and much needed programs for the youth.

“I am proud of this work and the project that will begin. I want our people of Tinian to know that we will continue to push this project and other projects that will benefit our people as well as boost our economy,” said San Nicolas

Funding for TSA, CBP facilities at Tinian airport

With reports of potentially four investors expressing interest in providing direct flights to the Tinian International Airport, Commonwealth Ports Authority director Kimberlyn King-Hinds, through her motion during a recent CPA board meeting and the support of the CPA board, approved $1.5 million from CPA funds for the design and construction of a TSA and CBP counter at the Tinian International Airport facility. The amount was determined as initial funding with the potential of a supplemental budget down the line if needed. The TSA and CBP facilities are crucial to ensuring the arrival and departure of direct flights to Tinian.

“I want to take this opportunity to extend our sincerest appreciation and Un Sen Dangkulu Na Si Yu’us Ma’ase on behalf of the people of Tinian for this critical step forward toward supporting Tinian’s economy,” said San Nicolas. (Tinian and Aguiguan Mayor’s Office)
