The two cars figured in a crash in front of Dolphin Wholesale in San Jose Thursday night, leaving five persons injured, collided head on.

Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services spokesman Derek Gersonde said yesterday that when their emergency medical technicians arrived at the scene, they came upon two vehicles that had collided head on.

Gersonde said one vehicle had five occupants, while the second had three.

Gersonde said emergency medical technicians examined and treated all five occupants of one car, then transported them to the Commonwealth Health Center’s emergency room.

He said in the second car, the driver, a 21-year-old man, and his passengers—a 19-year-old female, and a 1-year-old girl—had no complaints and refused medical treatment.

He said in the first car, the driver, a 17-year-old male, complained of left knee soreness.

The other passenger, a 51-year-old woman, complained of back pain.

A 15-year-old male, who was sitting behind the driver, complained of right extremity pain with swelling, bleeding, and abrasions.

A 14-year-old male, who was sitting in the middle rear seat, complained of right leg pain.

A 15-year-old male, who was sitting behind the front right passenger seat, complained of shortness of breath.

The injured persons were in a Toyota Corolla. They came from the Thursday Market in Garapan, Saipan Tribune learned.

Gersonde said DFEMS received a call from the Department of Public Safety’s 911 dispatch about the vehicular crash on Thursday at 9:53pm.

He said DFEMS medics from Koblerville, Garapan, and Susupe fire stations were dispatched to the scene.

Gersonde said any information regarding the vehicles and or cause of the accident should be referred to DPS.

As of yesterday, DPS had yet to provide information about the accident.
