Saipan students to leave for Korea trip

Some 25 Saipan students from Saipan are scheduled to leave for South Korea this summer.

The Saipan Mayor’s Office has re-opened its Visit to Korea program this year and opened 25 slots for interested students. According to assistant to the mayor Yuuki Kishimoto those slots filled up fairly quickly.

Both the Saipan Mayor’s Office and the Korean Community of Saipan selected the students that will partake in the trip. A total of 23 students were selected by the Saipan Mayor’s Office and the Korean Community of Saipan selected two.

Students who were selected were from Marianas High School, Saipan Southern High School, Mount Carmel School, and a few Northern Marianas College students.

There will also be guides who will accompany the students on their trip. The five guides will be selected by the mayor’s office.

Korean translators from the island of Saipan will also take part in the trip. The Korean Community of Saipan chose five translators. The Korean Community of Saipan also chose five tour conductors to lead the trip.

The Korean Community of Saipan will meet with the Saipan Mayor’s Office some time this week to talk and finalize all that needs to be finalized for the trip.

Students will arrive in Korea on June 4 and will start their trip around Korea by June 5.

The students will start off their trip at the War Memorial of Korea located in Yongsan. This is to enlighten the students on the war history of Korea.

Then the following day, the students will take a bus to Yongin where students will visit the Yongin zip line. This is to demonstrate the excellence of Korea’s landscape and to show its natural beauty.

The following day, students will be transported to Incheon to see the industrial complex and promote the industrialization of Korea.

The last stop that the students will make on their trip is to Itaewon Seoul. This area of Korea is busiest place. This is to portray the beauty and development of Korea.

The trip ensures that the students will learn each objective that the Korean Community of Saipan and Saipan Mayor’s Office has set for the students. The objectives are to see the development, industrialization, and beauty of Korea, and to learn the history and culture of the country.
