Share

The Saipan Mayor’s Office issued so far a total of 88 marriage licenses to same-sex couples in 2017.

Based on data acquired from the mayor’s office, a total of 63 marriage licenses were issued to female couples and a total of 25 marriage licenses were issued to male couples from January to November 2017. That is a more than 170-percent increase from just 30 marriage licenses issued to same-sex couples in 2016.

Not only was there an increase in the number of marriage licenses issued to same-sex couples, but there were also a variety in the couples who were wed in the CNMI.
