Saipan pump prices down 15 cents
Saipan motorists enjoyed another rollback on pump prices yesterday afternoon after Mobil Oil Marianas and Shell Marianas both lowered their prices by 15 cents, with regular gas finally selling below $4 a gallon.
Mobil gas stations on island rolled back their pump prices around 3pm. It saw their regular unleaded gasoline go down to $3.91 from $4.06 a gallon.
Super unleaded gasoline, meanwhile, went down to $4.23 from $4.38 gallon, while the price of diesel was slashed to $4.37 from $4.52 a gallon.
Shell mirrored Mobil’s price decrease an hour later at around 4pm. Its V-Power now sells at $3.91 per gallon, down from $4.06 a gallon.
The oil company’s full service gasoline also went down 15 cents to $4.19 from $4.34 a gallon. Shell gasoline stations also now sell their diesel at $4.37.
Despite the reduction of gas prices on Saipan, gas stations on Tinian continue to sell their regular gasoline at $5.22 per gallon, while diesel is at $5.80. Saipan Tribune wasn’t able to verify the price of gas on Rota.
For Mabel Subang of Garapan, the recent decreases in gas prices are heaven sent for her family of five. She said lower gas prices means more money they can now spend for other essentials like food. Subang said her family spends around $70 to $80 a week on fuel.
Ira Valle, who lives in Susupe, said she didn’t actually feel past rollbacks but is more optimistic this time as regular gasoline finally dipped below $4 this year. She said she spends $25 a week on fuel.
