There will be a scheduled power interruption on Saipan on Friday, April 7, 2017, from 5amto 6:30am, and on Saturday, April 8, 2017, from 5:30am to 10:30am.

The purpose of the power interruption on Friday is to de-energize the primary lines to allow Commonwealth Utilities Corp. line crew to safely perform system upgrade on the Kiya 3 and Kiya 4 distribution circuit. This requires a power outage on sectionalized area of the Kiya 4 distribution circuit.

Chalan Kiya will be affected. The Duenas water well would also be affected, as well as the W-5 wastewater lift stations. The Chalan Kiya traffic light would also be affected.

The purpose of the Saturday power interruption is to de-energize the primary lines to allow CUC line crew to safely replace five wooden power poles with concrete poles along Alageta Road in Kagman II. This is part of an ongoing Hazard Mitigation Program to strengthen and harden the integrity of the power distribution system throughout Saipan.

Kagman II would be affected. The water wells for the entire Kagman village would also be affected. These includes the KG-7, KG-8, KG-9, KG-14, and KG-15 water wells.

Because of the scale of work that will be performed on both days, CUC asks travelers to take alternate routes or to exercise caution when driving through the affected areas.
