The Saipan Marianas Lions Club and its youth counterpart, the Saipan Marianas Alpha Leos Club, have adopted three school bus stops.

According to region chair and Leo Club advisor Ladyvir Canape, they will paint the third one, which is in Gualo Rai, this coming Saturday.

For the past two Saturdays, both clubs have been cleaning and painting the bus stops that they adopted in Chalan Laulau and Navy Hill. She said that they chose the three sites because of their uniformed designs.

They will also be putting the logo of both the clubs in the bus stop but they are still looking at how to do it.

Canape said they wanted a project that is close to the Leos being a newly established organization in Saipan.

“We wanted a project that is related to the students,” Canape said.

The Leo Club is composed young people who are 12 to 17 years of age. It aims to encourage, mold, and build strong, well-rounded, and service-oriented as well as community-oriented young adults.

So far, there has been positive response to the Leo Club, according to Canape.

Canape said they were able to fund the project and buy materials through their three-day Christmas caroling program last December.
