Saipan Elite hammered NMI U16, 19-1, in the boys U16 division game in the Saipan Soccer School’s 2017 Youth Summer Futsal Tournament last Monday at the TSL Sports Complex.

The lopsided victory gave Saipan Elite the temporary lead (pending results of yesterday’s matches) in the four-team field as it improved its win-draw-loss record to 2-1-0, while the defeat was the second in three games for NMI U16. 4Gives (1-1-0) and HK SSS (0-0-2) complete the division and were scheduled to collide in yesterday’s second game.

Saipan Elite peppered NMI U16 with 12 goals in the first half to set up the easy win, while NMI U16 nailed its lone goal also in the first 20 minutes of the match. Merrick Toves and Jaydee Jose teamed up anew in Saipan Elite’s demolition of NMI U16 after firing four goals apiece. Rohan Basnet added three, while Kohtaro Goto and Rintaro Miyawaki chipped in two each, and Jeremiah Diaz contributed one. John Ezekiel Canape tallied the only goal for NMI U16.

In other results last Monday, Kanoa Football Club 2 slipped past SSS in the co-ed U12 game, 5-4, while F. Marinos won over Isamu United in the girls U17 tiff, 4-1.

Four different players hit the board for Kanoa FC 2, which now has a 2-0-1 record, the same mark that SSS holds. Andrew Sablan knocked in a pair of goals, while Markus Toves, John Mark Anastacio, and Nolan Ngewakl logged one each.

Sean Hill also drilled two goals for SSS, which led at halftime, 3-2, but failed to duplicate its 8-3 victory over Kanoa FC 2 in their first meeting after the latter played better offense in the second half. Garrett Weaver and Praise Woo registered the two other goals for SSS.

In the girls U17 game, Guine Borja recorded two goals to lift F. Marinos to its second straight victory after dropping its opener against Hakone last week. Isamu United remained winless in three matches.

F. Marinos will go for win No. 3 when it takes on Hakone in the 4pm match today. Hakone is unbeaten in two games and was aiming to extend its streak yesterday against Marianas Health Armada (1-1). Two more matches will be played today with SSS meeting Kanoa FC 1 (0-0-2) at 3pm and 4Gives battling HK SSS (0-0-2).
