Saipan Chamber seeks to raise funds with golf tourney
This year’s annual Saipan Chamber of Commerce 2017 Golf Tournament is looking to bring back some fun to the golf course. We encourage players of all skill levels and talents to join this tournament. Men and women golfers are sure to have a beautiful day on LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort west course with holes sponsored by Chamber members. A banquet will immediately follow the close of the tournament. The show time is 6am on March 4, 2017, with a shotgun start at 7am.
The format is a two-person scramble. The entry fee is $120/non-member and $110/Chamber member. Cash prizes include first place, $800; second place, $500; and third place, $300 for each of the two categories: Team gross and Team double peoria. There will also be closest-to-the-pin, longest drive, and accurate drive contests. Triple J Motors will sponsor a hole-in-one prize of a 2017 Mazda 6. Three hole-in-one opportunities of $5,000 each are offered by Pacifica Insurance, McDonald’s Saipan, and the Chamber’s Saipan Young Professionals.
Funds raised by the tournament and raffle will support the Chamber’s scholarship program, monthly training seminars, and other community based projects. Among the activities offered in 2016 were:
• Chamber scholarships:
– four $2,000 scholarships to high school seniors,
– one $2,000 scholarship to an NMC college student
– one $2,000 scholarship to an NMTI student.
• 2016 Business and Finance Conference hosted with the Bank of Guam and the Commonwealth Development Authority
• A Labor Visa Symposium to increase awareness of the options available for employee visas.
Fabulous raffle prizes have been donated, and tickets will be available for purchase during the awards banquet at the end of the tournament. Sponsorships and raffle prizes are currently being collected and we expect this will be the most exciting event yet. Registration forms for players are available for download at www.saipanchamber.com, at the Chamber office, and LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort.
The Chamber is pleased to have the support of its generous members and looks forward to offering new programs to enhance the business community on Saipan in the upcoming year. (SCC)
