Sablan Frances Sablan was declared the Saipan Golf Association’s September Ace after the conclusion of their monthly event held last Sept. 18 at the Kingfisher Golf Links in Talafofo.

SGA’s lone female participant went from worst to first, taking top honors in September after placing last in August.

Sablan’s net score of 73 tied February Ace John Cruz, and was declared this month’s ace even though the latter won the tiebreaker.

January Ace Tony Deleon Guerrero, August Ace Steve Balakrishna, and Rick Kautz finished a stroke behind the top pair with net 74s.

After their playoff, Deleon Guerrero was awarded a third place finish, Balakrishna fourth, and Kautz settled for fifth place.

Notably, Balakrishna recorded the event’s longest drive on hole No. 16 and closest to the pin in hole no. 14. April Ace Ed Manibusan won closest to the pin in hole No. 12 and longest drive in hole No. 6. DLGuerrero won closest to the pin in hole No. 7 and Joe Demapan won closest to the pin in hole No. 3.

In addition, Balakrishna, Kautz, and Demapan each bagged a birdie, while Martin Sablan caught a pair during their respective rounds.

A total of 19 golfers participated in the event. One, however, was disqualified.

Other past aces include March Ace Nick C. Sablan, May Ace Ray M. San Nicolas, June Ace Joe I. Sablan, and July Ace Danny Quitugua.

SGA’s October ace is slated for Oct. 9. The location has not yet been determined.
