Sablan wins SGA March Ace

Joe I. Sablan ruled the Saipan Golfers Association March Ace Tournament held at the Kingfisher Golf Links.

Sablan, a 23-handicapper, shot a 47 and 46 on the front and back nines, respectively, for a gross 93 and net 70. He won by just one stroke against Ed Manibusan and Joe Demapan, who had similar scores of 72, but the latter dropped to third after losing in the scorecard tiebreak.

The 6-handicapper Manibusan fired a 38 on the front and 39 on the back for a gross 77, while Demapan had a gross 84, built around his pair of 42s. Demapan also won the longest drive contest on No. 7, while John Diaz did the same on No. 11.

In the closest to the pin event, the winners were Jung Eun Teack (No. 6 and 15) , Alex Tudela (No. 8), and Sablan (No. 12)

Meanwhile, the SGA April Ace of the Month is scheduled this Sunday on the west course of the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort. Tee time is at 9:30am. (Saipan Tribune)
