Rotary to host fundraising gala
To move forward with the second phase of the Kagman community park, the Rotary Club of Saipan plans to raise funds through an anniversary gala.
During the Rotary Club meeting last week, Rotary Club president Thomas Thornburgh said it has been decided that the club’s upcoming anniversary celebration would be a public gala.
“At the last board meeting we had, which was back in December, we agreed…to open up [the 50th anniversary celebration] to the public,” he said.
Thornburgh said they are looking at $100 per plate and the funds raised would go to completing the second phase of the Kagman community park that the Rotary Club started in 2017.
“The Kagman phase II fundraiser is what we will isolate as our target for that fundraising activity,” said Thornburgh.
The club’s inspiration will be the Micronesia Island Nature Alliance’s Green Gala that was held at the Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan last September. “We’re going to try and make it kind of like the Green Gala,” he said.
According to Thornburgh, the Rotary Club board members will further discuss specific details for the event.
