The Rotary Club of Saipan’s Goodwill Golf Tournament last Oct. 10 generated over $10,000 that will be used to fund the club’s future projects.

At the club’s regular Tuesday meeting at the Hyatt Regency Saipan in Garapan, club president Sonya Dancoe said the club raised a grand total of $21,247.80 plus expenses. The Rotary spent $10,660 for the event, leaving them with a total of $10,587.80. The golf tournament attracted 100 players.

Dancoe hinted that there could be another tournament next year.

When broken down, the tournament’s raffle tickets totaled $3,029, sponsored cash donations amounted to $8,620, players cash payments amounted to $4,960, player cash and credit card payments at the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort totaled $3,824, and Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan gave $814.80.

Dancoe stated that the donations covered the total expense of $10,600 and no one had to pay out of pocket. The biggest expense was the banquet at the Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan but Fiesta waived the fee, or the banquet meal, for the volunteers. (Justine Nauta)
