Rotary Club to print more tickets for its Las Vegas Night fundraiser
Newly installed vice president Laila Y. Boyer said during yesterday’s meeting that the 5,000 tickets that were initially printed have already been distributed to most Rotarians, with some of them “quadrupling” their number of tickets, leaving others without their share of tickets to sell.
Boyer disclosed that last year, Rotary Club of Saipan printed a total of 8,000 tickets.
Rotarian Kim Forrester noted, though, that the club would rather have “leftover” tickets than not having tickets to sell since the printing of tickets won’t cost them much.
Tickets to the fundraising event cost $5 each or $20 for a booklet containing five tickets.
Community Services director Curtis Dancoe said that the club will set up a booth at the Sabalu Market and at Joeten Superstore on July 7, the Saturday before the fundraiser.
Boyer expressed optimism that the additional tickets will be sold with the “upgrade” in the car prize at stake.
She revealed that this year’s grand prize is either $10,000 or a brand new Hyundai Elantra, a step up from the previously announced Hyundai Accent. Boyer said that Triple J Motors, the island’s Hyundai cars dealer, provided them the same price for a better model.
The program for the event will have the theme “Stars and Stripes” in celebration of Liberation Month. Rotarians are encouraged to dress up in red, white, and blue.
Boyer stated that the Club is “pretty much set” for the Las Vegas Night as they have all the needed materials such as the 100 decks of cards that will be used for the event.
However, they are still in need of more volunteers, although a number of Rotarians and others have already signed up to help as dealers or cashiers.
Boyer said that, they are expecting more bettors this year with the additional Texas Hold’em tables. She noted, though, that there won’t be any tables for the popular dice game called craps.
There will be an orientation for all volunteers before game night.
