Those four years in high school are the perfect time to volunteer. Although it may seem difficult to find the time to volunteer for a cause that offers no (monetary) payment in return, the benefits you’ll draw from the experience may end up being worth more than what you make working that part-time job.

Instead of working and earning money, Reann Mae Aquino Camacho decided to use her spare time and volunteer at Eskuelan San Francisco de Borja.

Camacho’s assistance is missed after she left on Dec. 14, 2015, to Illinois for her basic training. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy.

“While I am waiting for my basic training, I wanted to volunteer where I can be helpful. Being a volunteer at ESFDB was so much fun and entertaining,” said Camacho.

“The environment was different from being in high school, especially helping in the pre-school, which is a challenge,” added Camacho.

“The first and biggest benefit people get from volunteering is the satisfaction of incorporating service into their lives and making a difference in their community and country,” said administrator/principal Carmen H. Atalig. “Reann is one good example of youth volunteering in their community. Also, I applaud Reann for her commitment and dedication to serve in our all-volunteer armed forces.”

“The intangible benefits alone such as pleasure, satisfaction, and accomplishment are worthwhile reasons to volunteer,” said ESFDB board chair Edward C. Maratita Jr. “In addition, when we volunteer our time and talents, we solve problems, strengthen communities, improve lives, connect to others, and transform our own lives. Reann’s display of time and talent will help in her military career.”

The ESFDB family wishes Camacho the best on her future endeavors and she is always welcome to back and lend a helping hand.

A recent graduate of the Class of 2015 from Dr. Rita H. Inos Junior/Senior High, Camacho had been volunteering her time during her high school years with the school’s Army Junior Reserve Officer’s Training Corps.

In addition, Camacho is active in her church community as an altar server.

Renato I. and Analiza A. Camacho are the proud parents of Reann. She has two siblings: Reziel and Rency.

The administration, faculty and staff, students, and board of directors would like to express their appreciation to the parents and Reann. (ESFDB)
