Rota man is accused of alleged sex assault
An employee of the Rota Mayor’s Office was arrested yesterday for allegedly sexually assaulting an 18-year-old woman while drunk last Friday before midnight.
Serafin Manglona Ogo, 33, was taken to court yesterday on charges of sexual assault in the second degree, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.
Superior Court Associate Judge Teresa Kim-Tenorio imposed a $25,000 cash bail.
Chief Public Defender Douglas Hartig was appointed as counsel for Ogo. Assistant attorney general Heather Barcinas appeared for the government.
Preliminary hearing will be on June 21 at 9am.
The Department of Public Safety dispatch received a call on Saturday, asking for police assistance at a home on Rota regarding a sexual assault case.
The alleged victim told police that Ogo sexually assaulted her on Thursday before midnight.
The victim said that Ogo, who smelled of alcohol, sat next to her on a picnic table and rubbed her right inner thigh. When she attempted to move away, Ogo allegedly grabbed her privates.
The victim got up from the table but Ogo allegedly approached from behind, told her not to tell her mother and grabbed her right breast.
The victim said she was so scared.
The victim claimed that Ogo also groped her between May 1 to June 30, 2016, when she was just 17. She said she was afraid and shocked.
