The Rota Legislative Delegation passed yesterday morning a local bill appropriating $6,000 for the operations and activities of the Rota Casino Gaming Commission for fiscal year 2011, even as Rota Treasure Island Casino Corp. at Rota Hotel has yet to reopen since its closure on March 25 and before Rota Resort & Country Club could open its casino three months after being granted a conditional casino license.
During a brief session, the four-member delegation chaired by Sen. Juan Ayuyu (Ind-Rota) passed Rep. Teresita Santos’ (Ind-Rota) House Local Bill 17-58.
The measure now goes to the governor for action.
Santos said yesterday she’s glad that her colleagues supported the local bill’s passage.
The $6,000 will be appropriated as follows: $2,500 for the executive director’s salary, $1,000 for professional services, $2,000 for communications, $300 for repairs, and $200 for ground maintenance.
Besides Santos and Ayuyu, the other delegation members who voted yes on HLB 17-58 were Senate President Paul Manglona (Ind-Rota) and Sen. Jovita Taimanao (Ind-Rota).
