Gov. Eloy S. Inos signed into law on Friday a local bill appropriating $33,100 in poker license fees for Rota patients and other programs. Rep. Teresita Santos’ (R-Rota) House Local Bill 18-53, Draft 1 is now Rota Local Law 18-12.

The new local law sets aside $26,400 for Rota patients undergoing dialysis and treatment for other terminal illnesses outside Rota. The subsistence allowance shall not exceed $450 a month.

Of the total amount, $2,500 is for the Rota Municipal Scholarship Fund pursuant to Rota Local Law 17-2. The other $1,200 is to reimburse a prior appropriation shortfall for hemodialysis and terminally ill patients’ subsistence allowance.

The remaining $3,000 is to cover some of the expenses related to the celebration of Mes Man’Amko such as air fare, hotel lodging, and van rental for ground transportation.
