Rota lass places 3rd in Miss Universe Guam pageant

“I was the second one to be called and second one to answer our [question-and-answer] out of the top three finalists,” she told Saipan Tribune. “Unfortunately I didn’t win any special awards but I would love to congratulate the beautiful girls who did.”
She said that after hearing her number called out as one of the finalists, she was “shocked and filled with disbelief.”
“I could not wrap my head around how far I have gone. But I quickly snapped out of it and focused on the next part of the pageant.”
Atalig said the beauty pageant journey was a phenomenal learning experience. Being a part of the pageant and being on stage, she said, is an experience she will never forget.
The most valuable lessons she learned while competing was from her fellow contestants.
“One lesson they taught me was the values and importance of a true sisterhood. I love them, they are amazing.”
Atalig urges younger girls to be confident and proud of where they come from.
“Reach for the stars and believe in your capabilities and everyone else will believe in you too. Doing this can take you anywhere, you could even conquer the universe,” she added.
The 20-year-old is currently a junior Political Science student at the University of Guam and plans to pursue a career in politics after graduating.
She is the daughter of Joseph K. and Lynn Y. Atalig.
